Peptide Reconstitution Guide

? What Is Reconstitution?

Research peptides arrive as a dry powder (lyophilized) in a sterile vial. Before injecting, you dissolve โ€” reconstitute โ€” the powder using bacteriostatic water. This creates a liquid solution you can measure and inject with an insulin syringe.

Think of it like mixing baby formula: the powder is the active ingredient; the water is the carrier. Getting the math right means getting your dose right.

1 What You Need

๐Ÿ’ง

Bacteriostatic Water

Sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. Keeps the solution bacteria-free for up to 28 days.

๐Ÿ’‰

Insulin Syringes

U-100, 0.5 mL or 1 mL with 30g or 31g needle. Markings in units (100 units = 1 mL).

๐Ÿงป

Alcohol Wipes

70% isopropyl alcohol. Wipe every vial top before inserting a needle โ€” every single time.

2 Step-by-Step Reconstitution

Wash your hands and set up

Clean your workspace. Lay out your supplies. Remove caps but keep everything sterile. Work on a clean surface โ€” a fresh paper towel works.

Wipe the vial tops

Use a fresh alcohol wipe on the peptide vial top AND the bacteriostatic water vial top. Let them dry for 10 seconds. Do not blow on them โ€” that adds bacteria.

Draw bacteriostatic water

Uncap your insulin syringe. Pull the plunger back to your target volume before inserting into the bac water vial. Insert the needle into the bac water vial. Inject the air (this prevents a vacuum). Then invert the vial and draw your water slowly โ€” no bubbles.

Add water to the peptide vial

Hold the peptide vial at a 45ยฐ angle. Insert the needle and drip the water down the inside wall of the vial โ€” do NOT shoot it directly onto the powder. This prevents foam and protects delicate peptide chains from shear damage.

Swirl โ€” do NOT shake

Gently roll the vial between your palms or swirl in small circles. Never shake or vortex โ€” peptides are fragile amino acid chains and rough handling can destroy them. Wait 30-60 seconds for complete dissolution.

Label the vial

Write on the vial (or on a small label): compound name, reconstitution date, concentration (mg/mL), and your calculated draw volume in units. A Sharpie on glass works. Date matters โ€” reconstituted peptides last 21-28 days refrigerated.

3 Your Compounds โ€” Reconstitution Reference

Retatrutide (GIP / GLP-1 / Glucagon Triple Agonist)

Typical vial10 mg or 12 mg
Bac water1 mL or 2 mL (per your protocol card)
Dosing scheduleOnce weekly SubQ injection
Starting dose2 mg/week, titrate per protocol
StorageRefrigerate at 2โ€“8ยฐC after reconstitution. Use within 28 days.
Syringe typeU-100 insulin, 0.5 mL or 1 mL, 30gโ€“31g

CJC-1295 No DAC + Ipamorelin Blend

Typical vial5 mg / 5 mg blend or per compounding pharmacy label
Bac water2 mL (standard for most blends)
Dosing scheduleOnce or twice daily SubQ, fasted โ€” typically at bedtime and/or upon waking
TimingInject on an empty stomach. Wait 30+ minutes before eating. This maximizes GH pulse.
StorageRefrigerate at 2โ€“8ยฐC after reconstitution. Use within 21 days.
Syringe typeU-100 insulin, 0.3 mL or 0.5 mL, 30gโ€“31g

Concentration Formula

Concentration (mg/mL) = Vial amount (mg) รท Bac water added (mL)

Draw volume (units) = Your dose (mg) รท Concentration (mg/mL) ร— 100

Example: 10 mg vial + 1 mL water = 10 mg/mL
For a 2 mg dose: 2 รท 10 ร— 100 = 20 units on a U-100 syringe

4 Storage

Before reconstitution (lyophilized powder)

Store in the freezer at โˆ’20ยฐC. The powder is stable for 12โ€“24 months when kept frozen and dry. Do not open the vial until you're ready to reconstitute โ€” moisture degrades the peptide.

After reconstitution (liquid solution)

Store in the refrigerator at 2โ€“8ยฐC (36โ€“46ยฐF). Do NOT freeze after reconstitution โ€” ice crystals destroy peptide bonds. Keep the vial capped and protected from light. Most reconstituted peptides last 21โ€“28 days refrigerated.

Travel

Use an insulin travel case with a cold pack. Keep vials upright. Never leave reconstituted peptides in a hot car or direct sunlight. Room temperature for a few hours is fine โ€” but get them back into refrigeration as soon as possible.
